GIRLS from a Worcester musical theatre youth group created a bit of Back to the 80s magic when they met American car enthusiast Mel Atkinson and his Cadillac Coupe de Ville from North Carolina.

Mel, who lives in Worcester, took the Caddy along to give youngsters from WODYS – Worcester Operatic and Dramatic Society –who are rehearsing for Back to the 80s, on at the Swan Theatre, Worcester, from Tuesday, July 30, to Saturday, August 3, an idea of what an American car from the 70s/80s looked like.

In the production that type of car features on stage during the song Get Outta My Dreams (Get Into My Car).

The show is set in the USA and tells the story of the senior class of William Ocean High School that graduated in the 1980’s as remembered and seen through the eyes of Corey Palmer, who is now 30-something.

There are 57 WODYS youngsters, aged eight to 18 in the high-energy show with hits of the era such as Girls Just Want To Have Fun and Footloose.
