REPRESENTATIVES of a county-based firm got a royal treat as they met His Royal Highness Prince Charles to celebrate an award win.

On June 11, JMDA Design founders and directors Derrick Barker and Cherril Barker were guests of Prince Charles at Buckingham Palace as they celebrated winning the Queen's Award for Enterprise for International Trade.

In a once in a lifetime occasion, all 201 winners of this year’s Queen’s Award for Enterprise 2019 were invited to a champagne reception, hosted by the Royal Family, in recognition of their outstanding contribution to industry.

JMDA Design, who announced their award win in April, were cordially invited to Buckingham Palace by Her Majesty the Queen as part of the award celebrations, for the Royal Family to personally congratulate this years’ winners.

Cherril Barker, marketing and finance director at JMDA Design, said: "From the moment we entered Buckingham Palace, we felt so privileged not only to be in the company of the Royal Family, but also to be gathered with the other Queen’s Award Winners.

"Meeting Prince Charles and talking briefly of our achievement, surrounded by the grandeur and opulence of the palace was a wonderful experience and a night we will never forget."

Next month, JMDA Design will host a reception, in which the Vice Lord Lieutenant of Worcestershire will formally confer the award by a Grant of Appointment, which will be symbolised by the presentation of an impressive commemorative trophy.

The Queen’s Awards for Enterprise are for outstanding achievement by UK businesses in the categories of innovation, international trade, sustainable development and promoting opportunity through social mobility.

Winners are allowed to fly The Queen’s Awards flag at their main office, and use the emblem on marketing materials.

The awards are valid for five years.
