A PASSIONATE support worker has started a new group to help those facing mental health issues in Bewdley.

Branches Support Services has launched the weekly group, led by Corinne Bowden, which is open to individuals of all ages who may be experiencing learning difficulties, mental health issues, physical disabilities, and dementia.

The service offers one-to-one support to individuals, as well as group support, and will run every Tuesday at the Riverside Church, on Dog Lane, from 9am to 4pm.

Support worker Corinne, aged 41, from Bewdley said: "I love what I do with a passion, it's about getting the best for those individuals.

"All our individuals are treated with care, dignity and respect and we work in a person centred way offering choice at all times."

In attendance at the launch session on Tuesday, July 2, was 18-year-old Erin, who is from the town.

Erin said the group is: "Important and needed in the community."

She said: "It's something which wasn't here before and I am glad that it is now."

The two got involved in creating a welcome tree, writing names of loved ones and pets on the leaves.

Corinne said: "Branches are strong and they branch out in different ways, which is what we want our individuals to do, whether with our support or without it.

"We think there's a huge calling and we want to cater for everybody. Whether it's one to one or group support, we'll offer it.

"We don't want anyone to suffer in silence."

Corinne added: "We have seen suicide, the loss of one of our own individuals. We don't want another individual to take their own life.

"That's why Branches is here. Our place is here in this community."
