A POLICE community support officer in Kidderminster will be scaling Britain's highest peaks in memory of his dad, who died of heart failure.
PCSO Niall Ryland, aged 37, began climbing after his dad's death in 2017 to help him cope with his grief, and has since gone on to climb Ben Nevis, the Watkins Path, and Snowdon twice.
He is now eager to use his new hobby to help others and will be tackling the mountains again, as well as Scafell Pike - all within 24 hours.
Niall, who has worked for the police force in Kidderminster for 12 years, said: "I started climbing as a coping mechanism after my father passed away and now I’m eager to use what has helped me to help others – by raising money for the British Heart Foundation.
"I've built up my cardio for six months, which culminated in me running the Worcester half marathon in May. I'm stronger now than I've ever been."
Niall will take on the Three Peaks Challenge on July 27, and is hoping to raise £500 for charity.
