STARS of The Great British Bake Off will be appearing at this years Worcester Food Festival.

The stars will be at the festival, taking place on Saturday and Sunday, July 27 and 28, sharing their culinary expertise and showbiz stories.

The celebrity bakers will also channel their inner Paul Hollywood when they judge the Festival’s cake competition, which sees the county’s best junior bakers show off their talents.

And, of course, Worcester Food Festival is not just about cakes. The city will sizzle with more than 70 food and drink stalls, serving everything from burgers and beer to sushi and champagne.

There’s also a host of free family activities on offer over the weekend, including story time at The Hive and a Pop-up park in Cathedral Square when the Free Radio ‘Street Stars’ will bring fun family games and face painting.

Phoebe Dawson, Chief Executive of Worcester BID, said: “Bake Off has become a much-loved British institution, and so to welcome past contestants to the Festival is a real coup – particularly to have them judge our junior cake competition and crown the lucky winner.

“The Food Festival has also grown in popularity every year. We have so many fantastic restaurants in Worcester, not to mention award-winning food producers and celebrated breweries, and we’re delighted to showcase them in this fantastic free celebration of everything gastronomic.

“And the Pop-up Park is a not-to-be-missed attraction for the city, with a busy programme of free events and activities for all.”

Also on the menu throughout the Worcester Food Festival are cookery demonstrations, cocktail-making and drink matching masterclasses, and plenty of sampling and shopping opportunities for local delicacies and artisanal goods.

Great British Bake Off finalist James Hillery and 2016 contestant Val Stones will be appearing on the Saturday, then Val will be back on Sunday, joined by 2018’s Karen Wright. Their baking demonstrations will take place in Cathedral Square.

Worcester Food Festival is held in partnership with Worcester Business Improvement District (BID) and Cocker Hoop Creative.
