THERE will be road and lane closures set to take place during the installation of a footbridge.

The installation of Crookbarrow Way Footbridge, between the Whittington and Norton roundabouts on Worcester’s A4440 Southern Link Road (SLR), will take place over the next few weeks.

The bridge, once fully complete, will be suitable for pedestrians, mobility scooters, bikes and those on horseback.

It will provide a link between the communities of St Peters and Norton as well as supporting connectivity between the city centre and the new Worcestershire Parkway Station, currently under construction just off M5 Junction 7.

To allow the bridge installation works to take place, road and lane closures between Whittington and Norton roundabouts will need to be in place on the following dates:

From 7pm on Saturday, July 27 to 7pm on Sunday, July 28.

7pm on Saturday, August 3 to 7pm on Sunday, August 4.

7pm on Saturday, August 10 to 7pm on Sunday, August 11.

These road closures may vary if works are affected by bad weather, for example high winds. The road will be opened as soon as possible on each of the Sundays.

During the two weeks in between the closures, to support the works, the west bound (downhill) carriageway will be fully closed.

All traffic will therefore use the current eastbound (uphill) carriageway with two of the three lanes for westbound traffic (down the hill) and one lane for eastbound traffic (up the hill).

These temporary changes will be fully signed and clearly marked.
