A CLUB enjoyed a talk by an author who likes to listen in on life.

The speaker on July 11 was local writer Sue Johnson who posed the question “where do stories come from?” The simple answer was “life”.

She confessed to “ear-wigging” while working at Tesco’s. She outlined her many activities in the world of writing from working with people with mental health problems, college writing courses, home study tutor for Writing magazine, workshops, lectures and the Evesham Festival of Words.

Her output includes five novels, poetry and short stories for magazines. She mentioned the difficulties in getting work published, arguments with editors about historical facts and differences over titles, the key to selling any book. Sue encouraged questions as she went along and she certainly got more than most speakers do, which demonstrated the level of interest in the subject.

The group meet at 10:00 every Thursday at The Boathouse, Evesham Rowing Club. Full details can be found on our website eveshamprobus.co.uk
