AFTER the tragic death of a 17-year-old girl from Malvern, her family have organised a rounders tournament in her memory.

Caitlin Sharp, from Great Malvern, died on June 26 after suffering a major epileptic seizure.

The rounders tournament, in aid of the Epilepsy Society, takes place this Bank Holiday Monday August 26 at Malvern Cricket Club in Regency Road.

Relatives of Caitlin, Leah Smith and Jade Smith, along with Welland Ladies Football Club, have organised the event.

Caitlin's aunt, Sonia Sharp said: "It's going to be one big fun day. Obviously she (Caitlin) was only 17, so it's just trying to get as much fundraising as possible so we can raise awareness of epilepsy.

"My niece had an operation and she also donated her organs – she was adamant she was going to do that right from the age she was allowed to decide."

Caitlin, who would have turned 18 on August 2, also wished for her medical history to go towards research into epilepsy because she wanted to help others.

Her mum, Michelle Doe, described her as "outgoing and bubbly, and always smiling."

After she died, Caitlin's friends tied balloons and tributes to Sabrina Bridge in Worcester, the place where they used to meet her, to show their love for her.

Caitlin's family have purple T-shirts from the Epilepsy Society and are hoping for official ribbons to be sent for the day.

The tournament starts at 10am, is for over 16s and is £3 to play. A maximum of four males can play at one time. Upon arrival, report to the main desk to enter your name. If you have a team you'd like to register prior to the day, email magsmith77@gmail.com.

The day will also see a raffle, BBQ, ice cream van, egg toss, cake stall and face painting – and the National Autograph Association racing drivers will be there too.
