THE Rotary Club of Evesham held their latest tin and non-perishable items collection at Morrisons Supermarket, Evesham on Saturday, August 17 – and what a success it was.
Generous Morrisons’ shoppers donated over 1,300 items for Evesham Foodbanks’, which local charity Caring Hands will distribute to those in need. This is a record collection for the summer.
Local MP, Nigel Huddleston was also there on the day supporting the collection.
Diane Bennett, of Caring Hands, said: “Thank you so much for organising this – our stock levels are really low at the moment so your help is invaluable”
Rotarian organiser Jeremy Knight said: “Evesham Rotary Club is aware of the growth in the number of individuals and families with children, who continue to need the help of food banks, to provide much needed food and other non-perishable goods.
“As a local club we believe we can help those in need within our own community, and this is why we continue with the collection. It is so important throughout the year. Evesham Rotary Club would like to thank Morrisons for allowing us to collect at their store.”
