STAFF from a county recruitment firm are taking part in one of the region's largest running events to raise money for sick children.

The team from Willcox Matthews Recruitment, based in Droitwich, will be taking on the Simplyhealth Birmingham Run to raise money for Ronald McDonald House, which provides accommodation at specialist children's hospitals across the UK.

Jake Willcox, Matt Reynolds and Josh Bryan will be taking part in the event alongside Josh's brother Aaron.

The run, which comprises a 13.1 mile course through the heart of Birmingham, is one of the biggest running events in the region.

Matt, 35, said: “So the team felt very spontaneous and we have registered as a company to take part in the Simplyhealth Birmingham Run 2019.

"It's fair to say there are now a few worried faces in the office.

"I go to the gym regularly and enjoy running, however I’ve never done a half marathon or event come close to running 21km, so this is really going to push me both physically and mentally."

Jake, 28, added: “This challenge has given us all goals to work for outside of the office environment, which is also driving the team spirit within work.

"Team morale is really important and this is an event which is going to require a lot of grit and determination."

Starting on New Street, the half marathon passes the famous Rotunda, Primark on High Street, Selfridges and St Martin's Church before taking thousands of participants along Pershore Road and into South Birmingham.

Josh Bryan, 23, who is also taking part in the run, said he is more familiar with playing golf to a very high standard on the weekends, saying: “We have quite a mixed group in terms of running abilities, so it will be a big test for all of us involved.

"The main thing is that we all cross the finish line and we raise as much money as we can."
