READERS have been having their say after Labour's parliamentary candidate for Worcester said parliament's suspension was "an attack on our democracy".
Lynn Denham spoke out after Prime Minister Boris Johnson gained approval to temporarily close down the House of Commons. The move, known as prorogation sparked a furious reaction as critics said it gave MPs less time to block a no deal Brexit.
But Worcester MP Robin Walker rejected the criticism saying: "There has been a lot of misunderstanding - it is totally normal, not exceptional."
Jean Wilson said: "Surely by taking this action, Boris is actually delivering what the British people voted for.
"And if MP’s don’t like it I’m sure they can resign and go work in a different profession."
Steve Hobbs said: "Those MPs, especially Labour ones, who are trying to stop Brexit and go against the result of the referendum aren't attacking democracy?"
But Dean Smith said: "Leavers you were sold a lie.
"Boris Johnson said we would have an amazing deal better than we have now? Yet we have nothing. Most people I know who voted leave now regret it, or voted leave and expected a deal."
