THE Midlands Air Ambulance is hosting its annual open day on Sunday, September 15, at Strensham, giving hundreds of people the chance to see behind the scenes and the airbase and learn lifesaving cardio pulmonary resuscitation.

Jim Hancox, aircrew team leader for the charity, said: “We attend an incident where a patient has suffered a cardiac arrest almost every day, and often CPR can be the difference between life and death.

“It’s a simple skill which anyone can learn, so they can improve the chances of survival if their loved ones are ever in cardiac arrest.”

The open day will take place from 10am to 4pm and will feature live emergency incident demonstrations, children’s activities and plenty of chances to learn CPR from members of the charity’s aircrew.

The event is free to attend and will help to raise lifesaving funds for the charity, which relies solely on donations from the public.
