NEW ways to pay at Worcester City Council's 14 car parks will be introduced next month.

New payment machines will be installed in October, giving customers more options on how to pay.

As well as still being able to use coins, for the first time drivers will be able to pay by card, including contactless.

Drivers can also pay when they leave, by checking in and then checking out.

Customers can just swipe or enter their debit or credit card details to the payment machine on arrival and then remember to do it again before they leave. The also have to enter their registration numbers.

Cllr Joy Squires, chairman of the environment committee, said: “The new payment machines will make it even easier to use the council’s car parks."

The new payment machines will be installed at the city's 13 surface-level car parks in the week of October 7.

The next week, machines will be put in at St Martin’s Gate multi-storey car park.
