STAFF and regulars at a Dudley pub have rallied together to raise funds for life-saving equipment for the community.
A Family Fun Day held at the Meadowlark on Dibdale Road raised £400 for a much-needed defibrillator, following a campaign launched by St John's Ambulance to fund a defibrillator in Woodsetton.
Event organiser Rachel Kempton, who works as a shift supervisor at the pub, said: "We were very keen that our first Family Fun Day should support a local good cause, and what better than a lifesaving defibrillator within our community! My thanks to our regular customers and everyone who came along on the day and made our event such a success.”
The donation was welcomed by Carol Littler, unit manager of St John Ambulance, who said: “We’re very grateful to the team at The Meadowlark for supporting our community defibrillator campaign, up to seven out of ten people who suffer a cardiac arrest could survive if they are treated with a defibrillator within the first five minutes, so we’re delighted that the number of devices is increasing within our local area."
