REDDITCH is set to receive up to £25m from the Government's New towns fund.
The town will recieve up to £25 million from a £3.6 billion pound Government pot to regenerate town and city centres.
The town, along with Worcester and Hereford, has been named among 100 locations across England in the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Goverment's new towns fund.
Communities, businesses and local leaders will now join forces to draw up ambitious plans to transform the town.
The aim is to improve economic growth prospects with a focus on improved transport, broadband connectivity, skills and culture.
Local Government Secretary, Rt Hon Robert Jenrick MP, said: "Ensuring that prosperity and opportunities are available to everyone in this country, not just those in London or our biggest cities, is at the heart of the mission of this government.
"We want to level-up our great towns, raising living standards and ensuring they can thrive with transformative investment in transport, technology, skills and culture."
Commenting on Facebook Redditch MP Rachel Maclean called the news amazing.
The announcement follows the Prime Minister’s confirmation in July of an additional £1.325 billion to support towns.
