FANS of the fantasy television series Game of Thrones can enjoy the ‘Iron Throne Experience’ which is taking place over the weekend.

Game of Thrones enthusiasts can get close to the action and have the opportunity to handle fabled props which are seen on the show. These include Don Joffrey’s crown, mythical swords, a life-size dragon skull, and also fans can take a seat on the Iron Throne.

The event was launched yesterday and will run until tomorrow.

Graham Lewis, from St John’s, Worcester, said: “I am a massive Game of Thrones fan. I have seen every single episode.”

Mr Lewis, aged 42 added: “Any opportunity to see the props and I’m there. I loved seeing dragon eggs, the swords and sitting on the Iron Throne. It was a great experience, I really enjoyed it. How can you not?

“I haven’t done anything like this before. The swords were my favourite props.”

Even four-year-old Evie McQueen was excited to take a seat on the Throne.

Her mum, Megan McQueen said: “Evie loves dragons and wants to be a future Daenerys.”

Matt Ogden, organiser of the event, said: “The idea is to give residents something a bit different. Obviously, there are interesting links with Kit Harrington growing up in Worcestershire.

“With the series finished, it gives fans something else to remember.”

The fun takes place in Crowngate Shopping Centre. Tickets cost between £10 and £30 (starting at £5 for children) and can be purchased at the event on the day.

There will be a Game of Thrones themed trailer around the centre where people have to find eight hidden objects in store windows.

Partakers must complete a form as they wander around the centre and hand it in to a member of the team afterwards. The winner will be awarded a £50 House of Fraser voucher.

The winner will be announced at 5pm on Wednesday, September 11 on the Crowngate Shopping Centre Facebook page.
