MALVERN Hills residents are being challenged to capture the beauty of the district once again with the return of a popular photo competition.

Malvern Hills District Council is asking amateur photographers to get snappy and share their best photos of the district’s environment.

They can be anything from stunning landscapes and rich heritage to wildlife and people enjoying the great outdoors.

Ten photographs will be chosen to feature in an exhibition at the Great Malvern Priory which will run for three weeks in November/December.

They will also be shared on the official council and Visit the Malverns social media pages.

Winners will receive a framed print once the competition has concluded. The closing date for entries is 5pm on Monday, 4 November 4.

The competition is open now and will continue through the council’s second annual Malvern Enviro Week 2019 which runs from October 14 to 20.

The week will see a number of community litter picks, activities and events held, including the first Greener Living Fair on Saturday, October 19, from 1pm to 3.30pm at the Great Malvern Priory.

Stall-holders from eco-friendly organisations and groups are invited to take part and to provide talks and demos on how to make simple and cost effective changes to reduce our carbon footprint.

Cllr John Raine, the council's portfolio holder for environmental services, said: “The Enviro Photo Competition is a great way to highlight the beauty of our district and to celebrate the wonderful place we are fortunate to call home. We are encouraging anyone to get involved and to take photographs from across the district.”

Photographs can be submitted by sharing them on social media and tagging the council on Twitter.

This competition is not open to professional photographers and images should not be digitally enhanced.
