A COUNTY-based accountancy firm has introduced a series of measures to make the business more eco-friendly.

In a new scheme, Turl and Co has introduced to its Malvern and Birmingham offices a scheme to encourage clients to store more data digitally, reducing the amount of paper that gets used.

Clients now have access to an online portal where they can store their documents and data. Where paper is used, Turl and Co is taking more steps to ensure as much of it is recycled as possible.

Other changes to the day-to-day running of the business include the introduction of a separate recycling bin and disposal system, together with the use of ethically sourced and fair-trade products including the refreshments offered to staff and visitors.

Karen Lowen, founder and director of Turl and Co confirmed: “At Turl and Co we are incredibly passionate about supporting the environment in whatever way possible and by implementing this eco-friendly scheme, we not only hope to reduce our own carbon footprint, but also encourage our clients to follow suit, starting with the use of our new online portal.

"Aside from significantly reducing our paper usage, the new online portal ensures our clients can send across all relevant documentation securely and with ease and is something that has been extremely well-received to date."

The tax accountants have also hired plants in recycled pots from Acorn Environmental and have switched to a specialist energy supplier that only uses renewable energy sources.

Located in Richmond Road in Malvern, Turl and Co helps small businesses grow by establishing their needs, offering help and advice and a tailored service.

Specialising in business start-ups, Turl and Co provide a range of accountancy services including annual accounts, tax returns, bookkeeping, payroll, VAT and cloud-based accounting.

The firm has also recently opened its Birmingham office at Somerset House.

Mrs Lowen added: “Turl & Co opened the Birmingham office to give the business a presence right in the heart of the city, and to be nearer to our clients in the Birmingham area.

"We are also hoping to extend our client base, allowing more companies to take advantage of our wide range of services.”
