EBRINGTON Gardening Club club has celebrated its 40th anniversary with a social event.

A club spokesman said: "A great crowd turned out. It was good to see some other founder members and members of the Drinkwater family who support us so well in many different ways.

"Our vice-chairman Barry Sabin read out some extracts from the early records of the club which were both illuminating and funny.

"Our membership has always been high and is currently around 120."

The club's latest meeting saw a talk by Sue Bedwell from Monks Head Garden in Bletchingdon. Sue trained at Waterperry and for many years she was in charge of the glasshouses there.

At the next meeting, Harry Green, head gardener at Morton Hall will be the speaker .

The meeting takes place at 7.30pm on Tuesday, November 12, in the village hall.
