VISITORS to Arrow Valley Country Park are being invited to a special event celebrating the industrial heritage of the borough.

Taking place under the Coventry Highway as it crosses over the park, the closing of the Scour II project will be an exciting, free, video projection event.

On Saturday, November 16 the concrete flyover of the new town will echo with the mechanical rhythms of the 19th century through video and sounds of mill machinery.

Residents or visitors who are interested in attending the event can book their free ticket for one of three time slots – 5pm, 6pm and 7pm – via Eventbrite.

Each visit will last half an hour.

For the past six months, artists Keith Ashford and Elizabeth Turner have been delivering the ambitious art project.

Combining four key artworks alongside a programme of creative public workshops, this unique collaborative project has drawn upon the impact of human intervention in a landscape that initially appears relatively untouched.

The artworks reconnect traces of industry from the medieval past to the new town we see today, with the journey of the River Arrow and its use as a source of energy taking a central role in the artists’ exploration.

Elizabeth said: “Whilst we are sad that the Scour II project is nearing the end for this year, we are very excited about this event.

"It will be a feast for the senses and I know that those who attend will appreciate the combining of old and new, weaving history into the here and now.”

To book tickets, go to www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/the-machine-in-the-park-2-video-projection-tickets-73833045627.

The meeting point will be at the corner of Marlfield Lane and Proctors Barn Lane.

Attendees will be guided to the site; a walk of two mins along a tarmac path.

The event is wheelchair accessible and under the shelter of a road flyover in the park; there may however be some muddy ground so please wear appropriate shoes and warm clothing.
