PEOPLE are being given a chance to support Ludlow Assembly Rooms with a promise.

The Assembly Rooms is currently closed as it undergoes a major refurbishment.

No date has been given for the reopening of the venue.

An auction is being held in aid of Ludlow Assembly Rooms during its renovation.

The Auction of Promises is being held by Larfe, the Ludlow Assembly Rooms fundraising events committee.

The event will take place on Friday, November 8, in the Oscars room at Ludlow Assembly Rooms at 6.30pm.

There are over 75 lots, including race club tickets, meals out and weekends away.

“This is one of our biggest fundraising events of the year,” said Cy Jones, one of the team of volunteers at the Assembly Rooms.

“Under the professional hammer of Michael Evans will be a wide range of goodies to suit all tastes and pockets. Everyone is welcome so bring your friends and have fun bidding for bargains.”

The catalogue is available from the Ludlow Assembly Rooms box office, open Wednesday to Saturday, the Ludlow Castle Bookshop and on the Assembly Rooms’ website.

Sealed bids can be left at the box office.

The Assembly Rooms is the major venue for cinema and the arts in Ludlow and receives grant support from a number of sources including Ludlow Town Council.

Money given to the Assembly Rooms in the form of donations, local events and the grant from the town council is important because it is often required in order to obtain grants from external sources that often require matched funding before they will offer support.

The Assembly Rooms is used as a meeting facility by the town council under an agreement linked to the grant support. It is also the home of the Ludlow Visitor Information Centre and this is being relocated back to the ground floor as part of the changes.
