A SALON in Stourport has been named the top neighbourhood beautician's in The Midlands.
BeautyLicious, based in Stourport High Street, won The Midlands Beauty Industry Awards' Neighbourhood Salon of the Year trophy last month after being nominated by its loyal customers.
The salon, which is owned by single mum-of-four Abi Weavers, opened a year ago after the business' expanding customer base meant it outgrew its former premises within 10 months.
Abi told The Shuttle: "My intention was only to start offering spray tans to earn some extra pennies.
"I had no money. We were living day by day. I saved the £50 to pay for my course and I loved it.
"I did this mobile for friends and family but people kept asking for different treatments and slowly I built up my treatment list."
Abi started the business from home and then started doing eyelash extensions - which is now her speciality - before buying her first premises with help from her mum.
BeautyLicious now has two lash technicians, a hairdresser, an aesthetics nurse, another beautician and two nail technicians.
Abi took part in a Mother's Day pamper with Ronald McDonald House in Birmingham and the salon held a pyjama day in June to raise funds for the charity.
Speaking about the award, Abi said: "I am so grateful to everyone that has played a part in my business. It has not been easy.
"My business is booming and that is all because I have a great bunch of girls working with me."
