HOMEBASE in Kidderminster will close down before Christmas and a consultation is under way with the store's 23 staff.
The Spennells Valley Road branch was given a stay of execution back in April 2018 after 42 sites were listed for closure as part of a controversial insolvency procedure used by struggling firms to shut under-performing shops, known as a Company Voluntary Agreement.
At the time, Homebase said the closures were necessary due to unsustainable rental costs and many stores making a loss, with profits declining significantly over the previous two years.
The Kidderminster store has now been confirmed for closure and the last day of trading has been set for December 20.
A spokesman said: "I can confirm the store is closing with the last day of trading set for December 20.
"The 23 Homebase store colleagues who work at the store have been informed and a consultation process is ongoing."
