A 27-year-old man is due to appear in court accused of two assaults on a police sergeant, making violent threats and possession of two 10 inch kitchen knives in a public place.

Ashley Evans of Park Street, Worcester, will appear at Worcester Magistrates Court today accused of common assault against an emergency worker and assault by beating against an emergency worker.

Both assaults are said by the prosecution to have been committed against police sergeant William Keys in Worcester on October 10.

He is also accused of possession of two offensive weapons, both described as 10 inch kitchen knives, and using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour with intent to cause or provoke immediate unlawful violence in the Corn Market in Worcester on September 27.
