POLICE talked two men down from a store roof at a Worcester trading estate this morning.

An eyewitness said two people wearing black clothes and hoodies were spotted running along the roof of Halfords on the Elgar Retail Park, Blackpole, at around 7am.

The witness said a police negotiator and firefighters using a ladder were able to bring them down at around 7.10am.

He had seen the two figures climbing onto the roof and running along it.

In a statement, police said they were called at around 4.15am to what was believed to be intruders inside one of the units. When police arrived, the two men made their way onto the roof of the building

Inspector Paul Harvey said: “As a precaution, the retail park was closed this morning whilst ourselves and our colleagues at Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue and West Midlands Ambulance Service worked together to bring the matter to a safe resolution. All cordons have now been lifted and two men are in custody.”

Police closed off the area and prevented the public from walking or driving under the nearby railway bridge.

An ambulance was also called to the scene.

Police say a 32-year-old and a 42-year-old were arrested on suspicion of burglary.
