A REPEAT offender has been given a suspended jail sentence after he admitted driving without a licence or insurance.

Clinton Copeland, aged 34, from Glebe Road, Alvechurch was told by Worcestershire magistrates that his record was an aggravating feature as he was sentenced to 16 weeks in prison suspended for 12 months.

Copeland was further banned from driving for 12 months and ordered to pay £135 costs and a £122 victim surcharge.

Also before Worcestershire magistrates:

Rihards Zerbelis, aged 22, from High Trees Close, Redditch, was fined £200, ordered to pay £250 compensation, £185 costs and a £32 victim surcharge after he pleaded guilty to stealing a mobile phone and a wallet.

He also admitted a further offence of selling the stolen mobile phone.

Bradley Swingler, aged 21, from Harris Close, Redditch, was fined £133 and ordered to pay £60 costs and a £30 victim surcharge.

Swingler pleaded guilty to driving while using a mobile phone - he was further banned from driving for seven days.

Andrew Knight, aged 26, from Tidbury Close, Redditch, was fined a total of £280, given six penalty points and ordered to pay £185 costs and an £80 victim surcharge.

Knight pleaded guilty to driving without appropriate insurance, failing to stop when instructed to do so by a police officer and possession of cannabis.

Tyler Ellis, aged 29, from Sandhurst Close, Churchill, was fined £140 and ordered to pay costs of £135 plus a £32 victim surcharge after he admitted using threatening or abusive words or behaviour.
