Worcestershire folks can safely make a resolution not to be bored in 2020, because there is plenty going on in the local area.

Look ahead with the Worcester News to our choice of ten events which, in their different ways, are all sure to be crowd pleasers.

1. Why not get a New Year sparkle in your eyes with the Worcester Light Night Festival? This will be "a free to access night where, using light, the city will be animated via installations and live performances".

The free event will run in the city centre from 5.30pm to 10pm on Thursday, January 16.

Great for the eye; but what about sustenance for the mind?

2. There's the Malvern Festival of Ideas, billed as "a multidisciplinary festival of ideas" and "a themed weekend of talks, discussion and activities".

A spokesman said: "In 2020, the title of the Festival is A Brave New World? In a rapidly changing world, can we look to the future positively and with hope? In what ways can emerging ideas in areas relating to social policy, economics, medicine, science, politics, psychology, arts and foreign policy lead to a better world? Themed sessions explore this topic from different perspectives."

It will run from March 6 to March 8 at various venues.
