THREE charitable and community groups in Ludlow are joining forces in order to help people from the town that are looking for paid either or voluntary work.

Hands Together has joined forces with Young Shropshire in Work and The Furniture Scheme to provide advice, support and practical help to people looking for work, based at the Rockspring Centre every Friday, 10am to-1pm.

Ludlow Job Club offers a warm welcome and is open to people of all ages and walks of life. Chris Deaves, a trustee of Hands Together Ludlow, has worked with other volunteers to source broken and out of date laptops and tablet computers, then repair and upgrade these in order to provide a range of IT devices that are free to use at the Job Club, including a free printing service for CVs.

People looking for paid or voluntary work, would like their CV updated or printed, or would just like a bit of free impartial advice regarding working opportunities in and around Ludlow is welcome to pop in - no appointment necessary.

There’s free coffee too!

Eighteen people are already receiving help and support to find employment through CV development, mock interviews and regular help and encouragement with job searches and four individuals have been given help and support and registered to receive Universal Credit.

A huge 2000kg of surplus food has been diverted from landfill to the local community, mainly to the Foodbank, the ‘free to user’ Rockspring community table and community lunches.

Hands Together Ludlow has been supported by the Ludlow Rotary Club that has donated £500 as a result of the dedications to the Tree of Light this Christmas.
