A KIND-HEARTED schoolgirl from Bewdley has pledged to run a mile every day throughout January to raise money for charity.
Winterfold School year seven student Kasey Newton, who lives in Bewdley, set herself a 'Runuary' challenge after her two-year-old cousin Thea was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis.
The 12-year-old is collecting sponsors to run a mile after school every day, with all donations going to the Cystic Fibrosis Trust.
Kasey said: "This charity is important to me as sadly my cousin has been diagnosed with cystic fibrosis.
"Cystic fibrosis is a life-limiting disease that affects the lungs.
"I've decided that in January, I will run at least a mile every day.
"This will be a tough challenge for me as there will be days when it will dark, cold and rainy, or I'll finish school late, but I know by setting myself this challenge, it will help raise lots of money for cystic fibrosis."
Kasey has already doubled her £500 fundraising goal and is collecting online donations at justgiving.com/fundraising/runuary.
Winterfold headmistress Mrs Denise Toms said: “We are very proud of Kasey, who has shown resilience, community spirit and thinks of others."
