PUZZLE-solvers will be tasked with disproving Moon Landing conspiracy theorists at a new escape room opening in Kidderminster next month.

Escape Rooms Kidderminster is set to open its doors in an old shop in the Horsefair area on Saturday, February 15.

An escape room sees a team of players cooperatively discover clues, solve puzzles and accomplish tasks in order to progress through the game and achieve a goal in a limited amount of time.

Company director Pete George, who grew up around the Horsefair, is returning to his hometown from Cheltenham to launch the venue.

Kidderminster Shuttle:

He told The Shuttle: "The rooms are entitled The Conspiracy and are based around the 1969 Moon Landing.

"The idea is there are various items of evidence to be collected in order to refute the conspiracy.

"With a lot of escape rooms you just have to find the way to get out of the door, but with this one, there are a number of things to be found to solve the puzzle."

The escape room is a project by Create on the Square CIC, a not-for-profit organisation which encourages grassroots enterprise in communities.

Pete said: "I grew up in Kidderminster so when I saw an opportunity to take on a site in the Horsefair area, I took it.

"This escape room in particular was run in Cheltenham for six months and was a real success. The theme is changed every six months.

"One of the key goals of the business is to regenerate areas that aren't being used to their optimal potential.

"The room we started in Cheltenham was in a shopping area that was abandoned. Now, in part due to what we're doing, it's become a lot more popular and thriving.

"I saw that same potential in the Horsefair."

Create on the Square also launched an escape room in Stourbridge last summer and has plans to open two more in 2020.

The company has just taken on two games masters to run the Kidderminster venue after receiving 52 applications for the roles.

Escape Rooms Kidderminster will open during weekends, with plans to extend open hours as interest grows.

Teams of up to six people will be able to book a game. Escapers under the age of 16 should be joined by an adult. The venue is family-friendly.
