In later life, Norah worked in the kitchens at Stourport High School and remained there until her retirement.

She has four grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.

During her retirement, Norah joined the town's Women's Guild, flower arranging and friendship clubs, and spent much of her spare time in her garden, which her family described as her passion.

"She was a very keen gardener and loved being out in the fresh air," they said. "She always loved being outdoors and in the sunshine. She's always singing 'Bring me Sunshine'.

"She has travelled round most of the world."

Norah was pleased to receive a card from the Queen on her 100th birthday and celebrated the special day on Tuesday, January 28 with a party at Minster Grange care home in Stourport, where she lives.
