TWO new wards have opened this week at Worcestershire Royal Hospital, providing an extra 33 new beds.
The two new wards opened in the Aconbury Building as part of ongoing refurbishment works.
Staff welcomed the first patients to ‘Aconbury 2’ ward, a general medicine ward on Monday morning and to ‘Aconbury 3’ on Tuesday.
Aconbury 2 will care for general medical patients, while Aconbury 3 will work as a Nephrology ward caring for patients with renal failure.
Matron for the new wards, Vikki Aston said: “We are delighted we can open these extra beds on the Worcester site.
"The positive impact this will have for our patients is immeasurable.
"Thank you to all the staff that have gone above and beyond to ensure this project has run smoothly."
