EBRINGTON Gardening Club's annual meeting was preceded by a talk from vice-chairman Barry Sabin.

He gave an illustrated talk on Going for Gold at Hampton Court Palace Flower Show 2007-2010. The entries were made under the club’s name and were the work of Barry and Sally Sabin and Liz Hale.

In 2009 and 2010 they won two Gold Awards in the Inspiring Spaces Class. Barry gave a detailed explanation of all aspects of the entries including the varieties of plants used.

A few days later we visited Colesbourne Park, near Cheltenham, on Thursday, February 13, to see the snowdrops. The park has probably the finest collection of snowdrops in England with more than 350 varieties.

They are planted in masses through the arboretum and lakeside landscapes. There are also excellent displays of other winter plants including aconites, cyclamen, miniature daffodils, snowflakes and hellebores.

The club's next meeting will be on Tuesday, March 10, at which Chris Wells, of Cotswold Bees, will give a talk on Bees and the Garden at 7.30pm in Ebrington Village Hall.

New members always welcome.
