A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of murder after the bodies of a man and a woman were found in Oldbury today (Tuesday).

Police were called to a home in Moat Road following concerns for the welfare of the people living there.

Officers forced their way in at around 4am and found a man, aged 54 and a woman, 52.

They were pronounced dead at the scene.

At around 5.30am, police arrested a 25-year-old man at an address in Smethwick on suspicion of two murders.

He remains in custody.

A spokesman for Sandwell Police said: "Our initial investigations have lead us to believe that this is a domestic-related incident, with no threat to the wider community.

"The victims’ family is being supported at this tragic time."

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: "We were called by police at 4.05am to a medical emergency at an address in Moat Road, Oldbury.

Linda Hyde, aged 68, who has lived in Moat Road for 36 years said: "It's shocking.

"We don't usually get trouble here, there's been the odd burglary, but no violence.

"It's a terrible thing to happen.

"It's awful for the family left behind."

The deaths mark the second double murder investigation to be launched in the Black Country in recent days.

Two men were killed in a crossbow attack in Brierley Hill last week.
