The Regrettes might be billed as “the world’s coolest teenagers”, but even their tour has not escaped the coronavirus crisis entirely, regrettably.

The band’s UK and Ireland spring tour has had to be rescheduled, until the autumn, in another bold act of optimism.

Fans will tell you they are well worth the wait.

One enthusiastic critic for Kerrang said: “They’re a unique proposition in a world full of copycats.”

Another critic, this time for NME said: “They’re achingly cool and have a live show that’ll make your head go all dizzy.”

And a Clash pundit praised the band's "all barbed wire riffs and helter skelter rhythms; the band’s shit-kickin’ rock ‘n’ roll sound with smart-as-hell observations on life as a woman.”

So now we know.

The Regrettes made a huge leap forward in 2019. Their second album ‘How Do You Love?’ emerged to glowing press coverage on both side of the Atlantic, while songs including ‘California Friends’, ‘I Dare You’ and ‘Pumpkin’ propelled them to millions of streams. They also completed a huge European arena tour as guests to Twenty One Pilots and delivered "killer main stage sets" at both the Reading and Leeds Festivals.

The Regrettes – consisting of 19-year-old frontwoman Lydia Night, Genessa Gariano (guitar), Brooke Dickson (bass) and Drew Thomsen (drums) – will return to the UK for a headline tour in September, "following the unavoidable postponement of their spring tour".

The rescheduled tour includes the band's biggest London show to date, at the 1500-capacity Electric Ballroom, on September 4.

But the good news for local fans is that Brum is down for a stop the following day, at the O2 Academy 2 on September 5.
