TWO teenagers have launched a football podcast to raise money for charity and help other teens during the coronavirus lockdown.

The 17-year-olds, Harry Moore and Tom Atkinson, have been running a football podcast on YouTube called the Two Banks of Four to support others during the pandemic.

Harry, who has a passion for online sporting entertainment and sports media, said: “Once the lockdown was announced by Boris Johnson, we both wondered, using our platform what can we achieve with our channel to do good and help Worcestershire.

“We’re both 17 and we know how hard it is during this time in lockdown. We thought hard and then it came to us. What do all 13-18-year-old lads love more than anything? FIFA.

“We worked eagerly day and night creating a FIFA tournament which brought in 32 players from around the county.”

The pair's YouTube channel was set up last September as the aspiring sports journalists wanted a platform to talk about football. The first tournament rewarded the winner with £50, as well as raised £50 for The Trussell Trust, the charity which runs the foodbank. This was accumulated from a £3 entry fee that had been placed on the tournament. The pair hope to raise more money for charity throughout the tournaments.

On March 29, over 100 players from the ages of 13 to 20 competed in a tournament with players from all over the county.

Harry added: “We make them as professional as possible by giving mock pre-match interviews and by producing draws as if it were a round of the FA cup. These people can sign up to professional gaming channels, so we have tried to make it as professional as we can with a personal touch.

“We think what we’re doing is positively helping the fight against Covid-19 in our little way we can, this is by keeping lads who would be tempted to meet up in groups, off the streets and playing FIFA. We also think that in times of dismay like this one, why not have something to smile about?”
