SPECIAL messages thanking NHS, care and key workers for their dedication during the coronavirus pandemic are set to appear on roads in Dudley.

The messages will be painted on eight key roads close to hospitals in the Dudley borough as a thank you to those keeping us safe during the coronavirus crisis.

It is hoped the work, which has been commissioned by Dudley Council, will let those on the frontline know how much they are appreciated while also reminding people to stay at home.

The messages feature a symbolic rainbow and will be placed on routes close close to Russells Hall Hospital, the Corbett Hospital and Dudley Guest Hospital.

Councillor Karen Shakespeare, cabinet member for environment, highways and street services, said: "We have all been humbled and amazed at the selflessness and dedication of our frontline workers, who have given so much in the fight against coronavirus.

"These messages are just another way of trying to say thank you for all they have done for us and I hope it will remind residents why we must continue to follow the government guidelines by staying alert to help control the virus and save lives."

The messages can be found in the following locations:

  • A4036 Pedmore Road Northbound between Level Street and Peartree Lane
  • A4101 High Street Pensnett, between High Oak and Russells Hall Hospital
