POLICE have managed to trace the owner of a stolen motorcycle which they recovered after a chase in Brierley Hill.

Response officers from Brierley Hill spotted the motorbike being driven across a field by a balaclava-clad rider.

They gave chase and pursued the rider to Addison Road where he turned onto the canal towpath. A foot chase then ensued but the rider managed to get away after abandoning the bike in a bush and making off over gardens.

Police have been trawling CCTV in the area and issued an appeal asking members of the public if they recognised the Yamaha motorbike - which was previously partly orange and has been painted over.

Since issuing the appeal officers have confirmed the bike was stolen from Birmingham in February 2019 and Dudley PC Jamie Follows said: "The owner has been informed and will be making arrangements to collect his bike."

Anyone who has any information about the stolen bike is asked to call police on 101 and quote log number 2296 15/5/20.
