FAST food fans can finally get their hands on a McDonald's takeaway now that restaurants in Redditch and Alcester have reopened.

Branches at Clews Road and Black Soils Road in Redditch as well as the Alcester restaurant on Birmingham road, reopened their drive-thru services this morning at 11am (Tuesday, June 2).

The chain is gradually reopening nationwide this week, and the Redditch restaurants are amongst 168 locations opening from today.

A McDonald's spokesman said: "We are glad to be back but it will look a little different and may take a little longer, so please bear with us.

"We have fewer employees in our kitchens to enable our teams to social distance and work safely.

"We will have a limited menu (no breakfast or Shakes for now) and will open for reduced hours (11am-10pm).

"We encourage you to use contactless payment methods and cap your spend at £25.

"For those visiting our Drive Thrus, you can browse the menu, order and pay ahead using the My McDonald’s App - we’ll start preparing your order when you’re near the restaurant.

"We’re delighted to be returning to communities across the UK and Ireland, thank you for your continued support and patience. We look forward to seeing you soon."

Previously, Redditch residents rejoiced on social media at the news Mcdonald's would be reopening - with some saying they "can't wait" to get their fast food fix.

One user said: "Things are definitely getting back to normal now".

Others were less enthusiastic about the return of the restaurant with one fearing it will "cause havoc" on Clews Road and another concerned littering will increase on the roads.
