A BUTCHERS in Worcester is to reopen a new look shop today after it was closed during the coronavirus pandemic.

H.Dayus The Master Butcher in St John’s, Worcester, kept trading via deliveries throughout the Covid-19 outbreak as it adapted to the crisis.

Today the shop itself reopens after a makeover and owners prepare to welcome back their ‘loyal’ customers and a new following they have picked up along the way.

Butcher Tristan Meier said deliveries had trebled over the course of the pandemic as people’s shopping habits changed.

This will remain a feature of the business and the team has thanked customers for their support and best wishes during the crisis.

Mr Meier described the new look of the shop as ‘modern but with a traditional twist’ and stressed that social distancing would be in place, with one customer permitted in the shop at a time.

He wrote on Facebook: “We’re back. Literally so excited to say that we are opening our front doors again. We can’t wait to see you.

“Never fear.... the delivery van will still be on the road and telephone and online orders will remain part of normal business. In fact you can even shop online and arrange to collect from the shop. So nothing changes just an additional way for you to shop with us.

“Covid-19 has brought us all so much worry. But it has oddly presented us with a chance to do what we’ve been meaning too for a long time. Behind closed doors we have blended tradition and modern with a makeover.

“We’ve literally worked our socks off for the last few months and taken every opportunity thrown at us.

“We’ve made a few mistakes along the way but most importantly we’ve learned loads (visible by the extra grey hairs).

"Our business means more to us than just an income .... it’s what we love and to think we might just be able to see our way through this and pave a new future for H.Dayus, one Henry would be proud of, is amazing.

“The shop has a whole new look. We have a new brand, a new website and the most exciting introduction of a dedicated Dry Ager - taking our beef to a whole new level. We work with some amazing people and truly have the best customers.”

“Thank you. Thank you to everyone that has stuck with us.... let’s hope that we all have a great new chapter ahead post Covid.”

"To begin with the business will be opening the doors with slightly reduced hours to start with and slowly increase over time.

“There will be strict social distancing measures in place to keep everyone safe but we are ready for you,” said Mr Meier.

The doors open between 10am and 2pm on weekdays from today and on Saturdays between 9am and 2pm.
