PHOTOS show the damage caused to a Stourport garden nursery following a fire on Friday afternoon.

Cook's Garden Centre says the fire was confined to the check-out area at its nursery in Bewdley Road North, which is used during open days, and a nearby glasshouse, which was completely destroyed in the blaze.

Clouds of black smoke could be seen billowing from the building at around 3.30pm, and fire crews from the Wyre Forest Hub, Droitwich and Stourbridge, plus a water carrier from Leominster, were sent to the scene.

Cook's later posted on social media to thank people for their concern, and confirmed its garden centre in Worcester Road is "open as normal", reporting that stock loss was "minimal".

Bosses also reassured members of the public that no one was injured in the fire.

Sharing photos of the fire damage on Facebook, they said: "Thank you everybody for your kind comments after yesterday’s fire at the nursery and thank you to our wonderful fire service which quickly controlled the blaze.
