A ‘SNAKE’ has doubled in size during the coronavirus pandemic.

A sign on a lamp post, which was posted at the end of May, said: “Covid-19 snake - please add your decorated stones let’s see how long we can make the snake.”

At the time, we reported the length was 213 stones but has now reached over 450 and it is growing each day.

Kempsey resident Nikki Hoskins said: “These snake rocks are going on all other the country and my family thought what a great idea to bring the village together.

“It puts a smile on people’s faces as they are out on their daily exercise.

“We started the snake and my family loves painting rocks.

“My three children also came up with a fundraising idea and have made some polymer clay snake keyrings for people to purchase as a keepsake and have raised £120 so far for three local causes - half going to the RSPCA Worcester and Mid Worcestershire, and the rest between friends of Kempsey Primary school and Kempsey’s food bank.

“We have always hidden rocks around the village but this was something a little different.”

Cllr John Michael, for Malvern Hills District Council, said: “Anything to raise people’s spirits at the moment is a good thing.

"When we all come through the pandemic, we can all look back on what positive things people did in the community during such a difficult time."
