AT LEAST two Worcester venues have had their plans scuppered by the government's last minute instruction forbidding pubs and restaurants to open before 6am tomorrow.

Ounce Bar and Kitchen in The Tything was preparing for a late night dinner service at midnight tonight but has had to tell customers not to come after last minute changes.

In a Facebook post the steak restaurant said: "We cannot open at 00:01 tonight. Apologies to everyone who had booked but we will not be opening.

"We cannot believe they have only just announced this. I feel so sorry for our team, they have been prepping none-stop."

"See you at midday tomorrow."

Downing Street said the later opening time for pubs was a "sensible precaution" to avoid midnight parties.

Also having to cancel late night table bookings is nightclub Bushwackers. The venue in the city centre was taking bookings for a "sneak peak" from midnight tonight to 3am.

But, a post on their Facebook page confirms they too have had to cancel and will be opening from 7pm tomorrow instead.
