A SCHOOL choir has wowed crowds with its performance of songs and poems from J R R Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings.
Two audiences of more than 100 people enjoyed West of the Moon, performed by the choir at Somers Park school, pictured above, which is made up of nearly 60 children aged seven to 11 with eight adults, and accompanied by piano and three string players.
The show was based on music written by the school’s music co-ordinator, David Cowell.
He said: “The children have rehearsed every week since last September and I’m really proud of their commitment, and the way they’ve worked so hard to produce these two great performances.
Stuart Sewell, headteacher, added: “It’s great to see the children making such amazing progress with their singing – and thoroughly enjoying it.”
