WORCESTER Nomads ‘A’ beat reigning champions Cutnall Green to remain unbeaten and top of Worcestershire Indoor League Worcester Division One.

The Bransford side scored 115-4 before restricting Green to 95-5 in a 20-run success.

Nomads’ openers Sam Roberts (22) and Lewis Austin (11) failed to exert their authority before Ryan Tongue and Rich Henry struggled to score quickly as well.

However, final pair Tom Mills (30 not out) and Pat O’Driscoll (24no) showed the way with 51 runs in the last four overs.

Green powered to 60 from six overs but two wickets slowed them down and Tongue (1-16) caused problems with his flighted deliveries as Green finished well short of the target.

Eastnor (83-5) lost to Hallow (85-4) on the last ball despite the bowling efforts of Tareq Jamil (1-12) and Dave Waters (0-18).

Hallow looked in control with 55-1 in reply but then struggled to victory with three byes from the final ball.

Eastnor’s innings left much to be desired and Jeremy Hodson claimed 4-13 for Hallow.

In Division Two, Malvern (107-4) beat Rushwick (77 all out) by 30 runs in the battle of the previously winless teams. Malvern batted first with a mix of uncertainty and style, especially from newcomer Matt Reed (36).

Steve Lake (30no) also helped them accumulate a reasonable score before Rushwick could get nowhere near despite being gifted 35 wides in 10 overs.

Martley (109-5) lost to Droitwich (110-5) with 10 balls left in the other game in the division.
