MALVERN Vale Firsts maintained their 100 per cent start with a 7-3 win over Windyridge Rovers in their first home game of the season.

They broke through in the Cheltenham League Division Three clash through Ashley Griffiths' rare headed goal on 12 minutes from an Anthony Cakebread cross.

Vale keeper Marcin Celmer saved from Terry Gardiner before the visitors levelled on half-time through Alexander Hale after a poor pass from the home defence.

Playing downhill in the second half, Malvern regained the lead on 52 minutes through Matt Strangwood's header after Andres Rodrigues nodded a set-piece back across goal.

But Rovers equalised again on 56 minutes when Celmer was caught out of position.

Vale's introduction of Mig Passaro on the wing proved decisive and Vale were ahead again three minutes later through Griffiths.

The scorer then turned provider, playing in Passaro for the fourth goal on 67 minutes.

Vale added three more goals in four minutes late on as Griffiths and Passaro completed their hat-tricks with Dan Parsons and Rodrigues setting them up.

Passaro's 27-minute treble was clinched with a 35-yarder before Hale pulled a goal back for Rovers.

Vale visit Dowty Dynamos Reserves on Saturday after Thursday's Minor Charity Cup home game with Prestbury Rovers Reserves.

Malvern Vale Reserves drew 2-2 at Fintan Reserves in Division Four.

Ashley Dallow scored twice with Louie Turner voted man of the match.

Joseph Grange and Mitchell Williamson made their debuts.

The reserves host Tewksbury Athletic on Saturday.
