BRANSFORD Seniors Summer League looks set for a dramatic finale in the sixth and last round.

Two players are joint first in Division One after Alan Ford's 29 points from the latest stableford saw David Wild catch up with 38 which was his best tally in the five rounds.

They both have 111 from their best three to date.

Roy Burston is third with his 34 moving him on to 108 while Neil Holbrow has 106 (32), June Atkinson 105 (36) and Lee Dyment 102 (35).

Rob Blake’s 39 lifted him onto the 100 mark and just on or over the century mark are Gerry Rebbeck (26), Mike Davidge (34) and Ferey Ghani who missed the fifth round.

Martin Linley continues to lead Division Two after a 39.

His running score of 114 is four ahead of Roy Williams (36).

Their nearest challengers are Rob Wetton 108 (35), Peter Harrison 107 (36), Andrew Jarvis 105 (32) and Bill Bowen 104 who missed the last round,

The best score was Rob Mathews’ 41 but this was only the second round he had played and his total is 70.

It is tight too in Division Three with Gerry McCurry on 110 after missing the fifth round, just a point ahead of Andy Falconer who made up ground with 35.

Pauline Wetton’s 33 moved her up into the reckoning and so too Allen Rowberry on 106 after his 36.

Roy Mayo has 103, Brian Corfield 101 and Mike Hendry 100 after respective rounds of 37, 34 and 31.

The pair first out in the B and H Trophy, a medal-ford better-ball event played by the seniors off 90 per cent of their handicap, won the top prize.

Ford and Roger Clark set a challenging score of just eight while June Atkinson and Williams, who were in the following group, totalled nine to finish runners-up.

The nearest challengers were Brian Taylor and Ivor Lloyd and Paul Edlin and Jarvis on 10, Pauline Wetton and Mayo on 11, Linley and Trish Godwin on 14 and Wild and Steve Littlewood, Neil Sheldon and Phil Baker, Davidge and Malcolm Bradley and Dave Lindsay and Holbrow on 15.

The competition supported the senior captain’s charity, Acorns Children's Hospice, with Dave Miller announcing it had raised more than £300 from entry fees and a raffle.

Bransford seniors continued their winning home form with a 4½-1½ victory over Evesham.

Captain Miller (18 handicap) and Mark Weston (24) set them on their way with a 3&1 win and the visitors' only victory came in the final pairing 5&4 against Mike Weaver (19) and Falconer (25).

Sheldon (21) and Gordon White (26) won 2&1, Blake (15) and Harrison (24) 6&5 and Davidge (16) and Phil Spencer (19) 4&3.

Clark (24) and Alan Wallcroft (24) halved.
