BARNARDS Green beat county rivals Bromsgrove by 76 runs in Birmingham Cricket League Division One with an all-round performance.

The Malvern side finished on 204-8 which became a target of 208 after DLS was applied before the the visitors were bowled out for 131.

Green lost Andy Ford inside the first over and Gareth Williams also dismissed Ryan Tongue for 14 in the ninth over with the score on 35.

After a rain delay Mahaaz Ahmed impressed with 21 before he also fell to Williams (3-19).

The game was reduced to 40 overs-a-side but George Rhodes and Adam Wiffen guided Green to 122-4 in the 28th over before the former was bowled for 57.

Josh Blunt added 12 and Phil Harris crashed two sixes before he was run out for 20 after Wiffen departed for 44.

With Green on 179-8 in the 38th over, Dannie Rees, with 22 off nine balls including three fours and a six, and Jack Mackintosh added 25 runs.

Blunt took 4-24 and Ford 3-26 to bowl Bromsgrove out but the visitors secured enough points to stay in the division.

Wiffen claimed two catches in the deep while Rehaan Edavalath added 2-26.

Fifth-placed Green finish their season at Shifnal, who are third, on Saturday (noon).

Meanwhile, Green’s under 19s beat Old Elizabethans in the T20 Blast semis but lost out in the final to holders Stourbridge.

Despite playing with just 10 men, they restricted OEs to 110-8 through Ben Sutton (3-23) and Ben Brommage (2-13). 

In reply, Sutton scored a rapid 15 before a partnership of 71 between Brommage (31) and Harvey Smedley (32) saw Green home with more than two overs to spare.

In the final, Stourbridge set a formidable 137-4 and Green were immediately under pressure after Sutton fell early.

Tight bowling made scoring difficult and Green were bowled out for 87.
