MALVERN Triathlon Club members endured cold, wet and windy weather conditions.

They competed in the Weymouth half-ironman and the Sandman sprint and classic triathlon in Anglesey.

Finishers at Weymouth were Jayne Ackroyd and Vikki Sivertsen as solo entrants and Lorraine Brooks in a relay team with husband Clive Brooks.

The trio of women entered the sea for the shortened 950-metre course owing to deteriorating conditions.

This was followed by a bike leg that claimed a number of competitors including Malvern’s Henry Walker who had to retire from the race but not the stalwart trio.

On completion of the bike Ackroyd and Sivertsen set out on their run and Clive Brooks picked up the run baton on behalf of his wife.

Sivertsen finished in five hours 54 minutes 53 seconds taking second female in the over 50 age group and 13th woman overall.

Ackroyd did 6.18.59 for eighth in age group.

Team Brooks completed in 7.11.25.

In Anglesey, Bill Adsett (1.20.06), Jonathan Sage (1.30.03), Heather Kirk (1.31.24) and Janet Adsett (1.35.18) completed the 400m swim, 25km bike and 5km run sprint event.

Adsett was third in the 50 to 54 age group.

Enjoying improved conditions the next day were Steve Butler (2.56.47), Wayne Qualter (3.20.45), John Bryan (3.38.24) and Roy Hart (3.50.58) who completed the classic distance 1,000m swim, 60km bike and 10km run.

Maria Dineen, alongside 800 other swimmers, took part in the cold 10k Hurly Burly in Snowdonia.

Swimming the estuary on the incoming tide, Dineen completed in 1.50, 1.16 faster than the Jubilee River 10k in June.
