MALVERN Vale hammered Woodmancote United 8-1 in the second round of the Cheltenham league Minor Charity Cup.

Matt Strangwood notched four, Miguel Passaro bagged a brace and Mario Vieira and Ashley Griffiths netted the others.

It did not take long for Vale to assert their control as they scored three in a three-minute spell to shock the home side.

Portuguese duo Vieira and Passaro linked up well to score the first two before the latter fed Strangwood to smash home the third.

On 18 minutes, Vale scored a contender for goal of the season when Vieira picked the ball up in the middle of the park and hit a rabona to the edge of the box where Passaro took a touch and fired the ball into the top corner.

Malikia Barry got one back 10 minutes later but at the start of the second half Strangwood netted his second.

Strangwood completed his treble with a penalty before completing the rout after a neat ball from Pep Ienzi was flicked in by Griffiths.

Vale visit Prestbury Rovers Reserves on Saturday (2.30pm).
